The Lamborghini Countach 5000 S, introduced in 1982, was an evolution of the legendary Countach series. Known for its sharp, angular design and dramatic presence, the 5000 S retained the iconic wedge-shaped body designed by Marcello Gandini, but added several performance and comfort upgrades.
Under the hood, the Countach 5000 S featured a larger 4.8-liter V12 engine, producing around 375 horsepower. This power allowed the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just over 5 seconds, with a top speed of around 290 km/h (180 mph). The engine was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, delivering the raw, thrilling driving experience Lamborghini was known for.
Visually, the 5000 S kept the signature scissor doors and wide, aggressive stance. It also came with upgraded suspension and improved interior features compared to its predecessor, the LP400 S. Luxurious leather seats and more attention to interior quality made it slightly more comfortable, although it remained a pure, driver-focused supercar.
The Countach 5000 S was a symbol of 1980s excess and exotic design. It helped solidify Lamborghini’s reputation as a manufacturer of wild, uncompromising performance cars. Today, the Countach 5000 S is a rare and highly desirable collector’s item, celebrated for its role in automotive history.
